"Sense & Sensibility" is being produced by The Village Players Theatre in Toledo, OH

Kate Hamill's Sense & Sensibility is a playful, female-voiced stage adaptation of Jane Austen's novel, following the Dashwood sisters—sensible Elinor and passionate Marianne—after their father's death leaves them penniless, forcing them to navigate societal pressures, financial ruin, and messy romances, blending humor with emotional depth as they learn to balance sense and sensibility to find love and security in 18th-century England. The production is known for its bold theatricality, using a small, versatile cast (often playing multiple roles) and minimalist staging to highlight themes of sisterhood, reputation, and societal expectations, with a chorus of gossips often adding comedic commentary.
